My Pets

Maciejewski Pets

Introduction to the Maciejewski Family of Pets:

My first pet was “Gandalf”.  He was a handsome gray cat named after Gandalf from Lord of the Rings. He was a very loving cat who loved to be in your lap all the time.  He loved his blankets and was incredibly good at doing flips through the air during playtime.  He lived an amazing 17 years.  He passed away within a few months after our dog “Dylan” passed.  I can tell you I saw him grieving the loss of his companion for 14 years.

My second pet was “Dylan”.  He was named after the musician Bob Dylan.  He lived a wonderful 14 years with us. Even though he had a lot of anxiety,  from separation anxiety to issues with ceiling fans.  The one important key to being a responsible pet owner is that you never know what types of issues your pet will have, and you must be willing to accept and love them.   Your pet becomes part of your family, you can’t give up your pet because it’s hard or difficult and not what you expected.  Loving your pet should be unconditional.

After the loss of our 2 beloved friends,  my husband & I thought we would take some time before making a commitment to another pet.  However, we only lasted 10 days  before we made the decision to adopt a stray cat. Once I saw her beautiful picture we could not resist. Her name is “Arwen” also from Lord of the rings.  She is a beautiful Calico cat, and she is the “Queen of the household”.  She has been extremely accepting of the additions that we have adopted since her.

Yeti is a female shorkie. She was named after a dog we tried to adopt from the humane society but had already found a new home.  She is the one I saved when I was attacked by a German Shepard.  She is the princess of the neighborhood.

Bubba was a male cat who had a heart of gold. He was found outside with a kitten named “Itty bit”.  Bubba had a very special relationship with the kitten he was taking care of even though it was not his.  They were best buddies.  Bubba was determined to find a way into my house and my heart.  He truly saved the kitten that was outside and found her forever home with us. They were both brought into my home but sadly “Bubba” was suffering from a nasal tumor and passed away.

“Itty Bit” has since become “Sally girl” named after the Nightmare before Christmas.  Sally was once very shy and was also hiding from us.  Now she is spending time in warm laps and loves to be petted.

Prior to Bubba passing away we adopted “Elrond” from Beaver County Humane Society.

Elrond is an extremely gentle gray male cat. He was adopted to help “itty bit” adjust after the loss of her best friend.

Lastly, we found “Pippin” , a tiny black female kitten who was crying on a sidewalk when we were walking my  Yeti.    She was less than a pound, so we brought her home to join our family. Pippin has adjusted very well into our home and loves all of her new buddies.
